Awareness Drive for Guru Nanak International Public School, Model Town Students

In an effort to head off this year’s anticipated dengue surge, the Punjab Government—working in tandem with National Vector Borne Disease Control Program (NVBDCP) convened an engaging awareness drive for Grade 6 and 7 students of Guru Nanak International Public School. Model Town, Led by Dr. Sheetal Narang, District Epidemiologist, and S Barjinder Singh Brar, District BCC Coordinator, the session blended science, self-care and community action.

 Opening with a vibrant PowerPoint, Dr. Narang traced the Aedes mosquito’s life cycle, pinpointing common breeding sites and then outlined simple preventive steps measures.

They also highlighted the importance of balanced diet rich in fresh fruits and vegetables and daily exercise. Dr. Narang encouraged the students to become messengers in their own neighbourhoods—organize clean-up drives and teach family members to spot and seal mosquito havens.

 With knowledge in hand and enthusiasm high, Ludhiana’s youngest citizens are now gearing up to turn the tide against dengue—one community at a time.
